I have a strange ritual that might seem like a waste of time. Each day, when I begin to do research and I want to clear away the lingering thoughts from previous work, I take five minutes and play Tetris. I realize that it’s quirky and weird. But it often gets me into a state of hyper-focus that allows me to clear my mind and focus on a new task. Call it a brain break. Or call it a flimsy excuse to live out my 80’s childhood.
